If you have been designated as a Primary Operator for a NC UST facility, you need to register for a training course. You must be an employee of the UST owner or operator. Third-party contractors or testing companies are NOT able to serve as primary operators.
For more information visit the operator training page.
There are two options for obtaining Primary Operator training for NC facilities.
Option 1: Attend a NC Tank School, receive hands-on training by UST staff in both federal and NC requirements, pass an exam, and become a trained Primary Operator. There is NO cost for this option. You must include your facility ID # when you register. Your facility ID # is found on your permit and has the following format: ##-#-00000#####
Option 2: Complete an online class, receive training in federal requirements only, pass an online exam, and become a trained Primary Operator. Private companies charge a FEE for this option.
Use the links in the table below to register for the online courses from one of the 3 approved vendors.
VERY IMPORTANT: If you choose Option 2, it is YOUR responsibility to notify the UST section of completion of the online training. Without notification from you, the records for your training can not be updated and potential NOVs will not be removed. After you pass the online training course, you will receive an email from the company. Forward that email and include your facility ID # to email@example.com
If you do not forward the email, you will not receive credit for being a trained operator and the facility status will not be updated.
